The Branch Student Recital encourages students of all instruments and voice to participate. This is a non-competitive event, designed to encourage students to set and achieve practice goals, and to grow artistically. Students are encouraged to participate whenever the teacher has determined a student’s piece is “recital ready”.

Any student of an MTAC West Los Angeles Branch teacher is eligible to participate. There is a participation fee for this program which must be paid by the participating families within 3 days of registration.

REGISTRATION
Teachers must submit the online registration form on the branch website. Login is required to access the registration form. After the online registration form is submitted, parents will be sent a link to the payment form which must be completed by the parents before the Payment Deadline. The registration fees are non-refundable. Late registration is not allowed.

REPERTOIRE
Repertoire of the Certificate of Merit® Level 2 and above is advised and may be from any of the periods of traditional classical music: Baroque, Classical, Romantic/Impressionist or 20th Century/Contemporary. Music from “method books” is not considered acceptable. Exceptions must be approved by event chair before applying. Consult the CM syllabus for examples of repertoire.

Participants will not exceed 5 minutes of playing time, unless approved by event chair. Each studio is asked not to exceed 15 minutes of total performance time so that students of multiple teachers may perform.

MEMORIZATION
Memorization is required for solo pieces. However, chamber music or other ensemble pieces or certain contemporary works may be performed from music. The teacher must contact the event chair so they may decide if the piece is acceptable to be performed using the score.

RECITAL PROGRAM & EXPECTATIONS
After the program is organized, the program will be shared with the participating studios so that students and families know when they will appear in the recital. Proper recital etiquette is expected at all of our branch events. Students and families are requested to remain for the entire recital, in consideration of other performers. If the student cannot remain for the entire event, please let the event chair know at the time of registration.

Teachers must login to view the student registration instructions and to access the registration form below.
