MSSL – Music Students’ Service League

DATE: Ongoing
LOCATION: Various
REGISTRATION: Open year round
FACULTY ADVISOR: Lisa Polak

The Music Students’ Service League (MSSL) is a group of students dedicated to giving back to the community through music. Through their participation, they learn about community service and develop strong leadership skills. MSSL students regularly hold performances for the community and help raise awareness about the power of music and its ability to create important change. Because we have been given the gift of music, we want to ensure that as many people as possible can also have that same opportunity.

The students will meet for bi-monthly board meetings to organize the performances including repertoire, printed programs, and any other related materials. The meeting’s venue may be in the faculty advisor’s home or on zoom.

There are no repertoire requirements at this time; however, the student-led board will have the ability to create specific themes or programming requirements as needed. Pieces may be played by memory or with music. Ensemble pieces need not be memorized. Any middle school or high school student of an MTAC West Los Angeles Branch teacher is eligible to participate. There is no participation fee for this program and students are eligible to receive community service hours for participation.

Teachers are encouraged to have their students email: directly or text (310) 867-0987 to get started!
